Blog 12 Shot Cut training was more difficult to follow then the Lynda made courses. I found a huge difference in the scaffolding. The Shot Cut tutorials didn't cover some essential parts for me, one being how to save a project. I found the tutorials jumped around from one area to another. It did give me enough of a start that I could navigate the software a bit. I found that needed to go to additional forums to find specific needed information. I am looking forward to the video creation but am less excited to use a different software.

Week 10 I found this project to be challenging. The software was user friendly but did take a while to become accurate with the building process. The tutorial was needed and I often reviewed chapters while working on my tiny house project. I did find that the version I used had some differences as what was presented in the videos. I needed to research in some forums to solve a few issues. One of which was the triple click short cut to select all was not compatible with PC sketchup 2017 version. Overall I was happy with my project, and enjoyed adding finishing touches. The best features of sketchup is that 3D objects are simple to make using the push/pull tool. Comparable to AutoCad this tool allows a new learner to make objects and structure right away. Another excellent feature that I enjoyed was the warehouse of items. This allowed detail to be added easily gave the space a realistic feel. I could see sketch being used in a drafting program to prompt interest in design or as a ...
Design Thinking The Design Thinking model provides an opportunity for students to think and make decisions through the entire project process. This model includes the following steps: Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. The big take away that I have from this design model is the first two steps, empathy and define. Starting a project with the a focus on empathy is challenging and motivating. It provides a personal connection and goal for the project. Empathy or creating for the betterment of others is what I want my students to understand ten years from now. Creating questions and understanding the audience provides insight and details for the project. If we know our target audience then we can look to create with confidence. The Define step uses the information collected to refine the project goals. The details and criteria is formalized taking a general concept to a focused goal. The remaining steps ideate, prototype and test provide a structure for students to work thro...
