Review and Self Assessment My understanding and perspective of technology and design in education evolved throughout the course. In education we work towards creating opportunities for students to engage in the learning process. Technology is an exciting tool to engage in the interest of learning and the pride of creating a product. This course provided a variety of software applications that can be used in the classroom. Learning new software was at times difficult but became easier as I viewed and attempted operations. The experience of learning these programs has given me the confidence to continue to better my skills and bring these applications into a classroom. Projects that I submitted began to take on a classroom focus. The projects could be used as a teaching tool or as way to demonstrate evidence of learning. In some projects some technical criteria was overlooked. The Blog allowed me to engage with peers, publish my work. I enjoyed viewing and posting to colleagues blogs, ...

Video assignment  Journal The video that I am creating is going to be an instructional video for the sport of wrestling. I thought that this could be used as a resource for coaches and athletes who maybe new to the sport. I am proud of the content of this video because it is a teaching tool and was successfully used as the first practice plan of the wrestling season. The first part of my process was to story board out my ideas. I came up with two different ideas as to what i wanted to present. One was a high flying double leg take down and the other was a basic skill of wrestling stance. I decided to do the wrestling stance concept and created a story board with a structure that a coach could use as a first practice. Shooting: Filming was done on two occasions. The first day I had a colleague film using two cameras. I had one camera on a tripod and one as a handhold. It was handy having the story board, we shot six shoulder shots in role that will be placed at diff...
Blog 12 Shot Cut training was more difficult to follow then the Lynda made courses. I found a huge difference in the scaffolding. The Shot Cut tutorials didn't cover some essential parts for me, one being how to save a project. I found the tutorials jumped around from one area to another. It did give me enough of a start that I could navigate the software a bit. I found that needed to go to additional forums to find specific needed information. I am looking forward to the video creation but am less excited to use a different software.

Week 10 I found this project to be challenging. The software was user friendly but did take a while to become accurate with the building process. The tutorial was needed and I often reviewed chapters while working on my tiny house project. I did find that the version I used had some differences as what was presented in the videos. I needed to research in some forums to solve a few issues. One of which was the triple click short cut to select all was not compatible with PC sketchup 2017 version. Overall I was happy with my project, and enjoyed adding finishing touches. The best features of sketchup is that 3D objects are simple to make using the push/pull tool. Comparable to AutoCad this tool allows a new learner to make objects and structure right away. Another excellent feature that I enjoyed was the warehouse of items. This allowed detail to be added easily gave the space a realistic feel. I could see sketch being used in a drafting program to prompt interest in design or as a ...

Design Thinking The Design Thinking model provides an opportunity for students to think and make decisions through the entire project process. This model includes the following steps: Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. The big take away that I have from this design model is the first two steps, empathy and define. Starting a project with the a focus on empathy is challenging and motivating. It provides a personal connection and goal for the project. Empathy or creating for the betterment of others is what I want my students to understand ten years from now. Creating questions and understanding the audience provides insight and details for the project. If we know our target audience then we can look to create with confidence. The Define step uses the information collected to refine the project goals. The details and criteria is formalized taking a general concept to a focused goal. The remaining steps ideate, prototype and test provide a structure for students to work thro...
Audio Assignment RAW bear hunt Readers Theater "Bear Hunt Story Time" The audio recording that I created is a readers theater told by children. I though that this would be an application that teachers could use in the classroom. I truly believe that subjects should be taught and learnt in a cross curricular manner. In this case English language arts, arts education in drama and music is incorporated within one project. The materials used in the recording was Audacity, laptop built in microphone, percussion instruments, and a piano. The raw bear recording was taken by asking my daughter Nixie to recall and tell a group sing along song "Going on a bear hunt." My daughter Petra hopped on the piano to give some additional background music. It became very evident that working with young children (K-2) thay are super excited to be recorded and a script is not very useful for them. What worked was patience, flexibility and verbal practice. The big take away with ...
