"How to Make Pizza Dough"

I created a google slide presentation about making pizza dough. My presentation uses three different types of text on each slide. A large title in a pop style simply expressing the step and a general statement. The reader could navigate the presentation quickly by simply scanning the title. The next text type is for instructional. This text that describes in a few sentences procedure details. This text type is a common font and size so it is easily read. The last text is a bullets that present a list of items for the particular slide. They provide detailed not mentioned in the procedure, for example the measurements needed for ingredients. This text is italic and bold to standout from the instructional. A reader may need a quick glance to double check they are following the details well enough.

Addition of pictures can be effective for the learner that is visual. I use instructional presentations often especially when it come to a job that uses terms I am unfamiliar with. A picture or a video can explain a small detail that I am searching for or demonstrate a procedure that I can duplicate. I often watch videos to explain vehicle repairs before I start the job.

One of my tasks in my consultant position is to present PD to new teachers. I use power point presentations with speaker notes. These notes are important because it allows me a script that either I have made or others have created. The power points are a shared document that is used by a number of facilitators. The speaker notes give direction and highlight information for each particular slide. Each presentation given is consistent for each PD.

A presentation for making pizza dough could be used in a food studies class. A presentation can be used digitally as a group presentation and given in paper copy individually. A student would be able to progress at their own pace. In a previous course I used a paper copy step by step presentation to completely take apart and reassemble a small engine. A well created presentation can be reused time and time again just as the engine I worked on is dismantled and rebuilt by new students each term.
